Nationwide South African Jewish Expats Weekend
A weekend Shindig of fun & diversity planned for all.
Imagine the laughs, surprises and fun you will enjoy over a weekend filled with reunions, parties, sports and activities, and then you can even stay on a few days to soak up the weather and famous tourist spots. You can also visit one of San Diego’s famous attractions – SeaWorld; LEGOLAND; the Zoo; Balboa Park or the seals.
A good time ahead for all Expats living in North America and any other country. Time for meet-ups of family and friends, blast from the past, and connect with Expats who could have been your neighbors! Choose from a wide variety of diverse events. One thing’s for sure … we’re gonna have a lekka time!
You don’t want to hear about it in May; you want to be a part of it in April!
Beginning on Friday night, San Diego Jewish Men’s Choir will be singing at shul services held at Congregation Beth El. After that, hosted Shabbat dinners are happening all over the city, based on different age groups, city or suburb of origin (Muizenberg, Brakpan etc), social club & religious practice. Glat Kosher meals are available for the more observant. Chabad Downtown will also be hosting a dinner.
After dinner meet-ups, particularly for the younger age groups 20-40, are scheduled at select coffee houses and bars - casual get-togethers will happen all around the city.
The main event is on Saturday night. Dinner party & entertainment. Plus, imported directly from Suid Afrika is the fabulously funny comedian, Barry Hilton. He will be the MC for the night. That ought to be a lot of fun. See him on line at http://www.barryhilton.co.za/
Saturday & Sunday, day time, are filled with a variety of events including different sports activities – from a golf tournament, soccer game, tennis, to biking, hiking, to classes like bonsai class, cooking, book signing and other presentations.
We are delighted to have the King David School Foundation hold their King David Schools Reunion Brunch on Sunday, with Elliot Wolf, past Headmaster of KDS Linksfield as their guest.
Paul Hirschson, the highest ranking South African in the Israeli government will be coming to speak at our SAJAC Reunion! Originally from Johannesburg, Paul is currently the Deputy Spokesperson for Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He returned to Israel after over three years in the USA (Consul to Florida & Puerto Rico) last summer.
